Engineering Manager

Role & Responsibilities
Lead engineering team of 12 across 3 squads (frontend, backend, platform)
Hire 4-6 engineers in the next 12 months
Define technical strategy and architecture evolution
Run 1:1s, career development plans, and performance reviews
Manage engineering budget and vendor relationships
Establish engineering OKRs aligned with product roadmap
Ensure code quality, testing standards, and incident response process
Report to CTO on team health, velocity, and technical debt

Priority Goals
Build trust with existing team through 1:1s and listening tour (first 30 days)
Hire 2 senior engineers and 1 staff engineer by Q2
Reduce production incidents by 50% through improved observability
Establish engineering career ladder (IC and management tracks)
Migrate core services to microservices architecture
Introduce bi-weekly engineering all-hands and demo culture
Achieve team NPS > 70 in first employee engagement survey
Build trust with existing team through 1:1s and listening tour (first 30 days)

Compensation Package
Base salary: CHF 165,000 / year
Yearly bonus: 20% management bonus based on delivery, quality and team health
Sign on bonus: CHF 10,000 paid after successful probation period
Stock options: 0.15% equity equivalent under NovaTech ESOP, vesting over 4 years
Employment Terms
Contract type: Permanent, full-time
Work hours: Trust-based working time
Expected start date: December 1, 2025
Work location: Zürich HQ
Vacation days: 28 working days per year
Probationary period: 3 months
Notice period: 3 months after probation period
Remote work: Flexible hybrid arrangement, with expected office presence 3+ days per week for team leadership.
